If they do, DO NOT under any circumstances take your eyes off your money. Usually, one border will try and distract you while, one switches out the money for fake money. The peruvian government allows them to search and check money for laundering, but remain suspicious As a preventative measure, some people hide their money and just show the border patrol a small amount in their wallet and credit cards.
