To and from Airport

The airport is about 20 minutes by car from San José. There is a local bus stop outside the airport, but you'll probably have to change buses to reach a specific location. The taxis are about 10-15 US Dollars. The official taxi's are reddish-orange taxis and say "Taxi Aeropuerto." If you take an unofficial taxi there's a good chance you'll get ripped off.

Also, some hostels offer a pick-up service. Both seem to run run around 10-15 dollars depending on where you need to go.

*there is a $26 exit fee that you must pay at the airport before you board your departure flight

San Jose
taxi's are relatively cheap, but make sure the starting fare is around 400 colones and the taxi driver starts the fair when you get in.

Buses are the main mode of cheap travel and reasonably priced. The bus quality range from good to falling apart school bus.
