Due to the collapse of the economy within recent memory, the use of credit cards is seldomly accepted. Most places only accept cash. Only more expensive and touristy places accept credit cards so have cash on hand if you are about to purchase tickets somewhere. ATMS are commonplace so if you have an ATM card then you should have no problems.
