Hosteling International Card

Hosteling international (or HI) cards are worth the 10 dollar purchase price if you are going to be in south america or Europe for more than a month. Many of the better hostels are HI affliliated anyways.

Hosteling international cards are not worth getting if you are headed to Africa or Southeast asia. Most places don't give discounts for HI memebers.
