Hvar, Croatia

Getting in and out
There is a ferry from Split that takes about an hour. Catch it down in the harbor near the bus station.
Getting Around
On Hvar you can rent scooters, not sure on the price. Most travel is by foot though…no public transportation on the tiny island. We rented a boat for the equivalent of $75 US for the day and went around to other smaller more secluded islands…lots of fun.
Things to do
One of the Roman emperors had a castle on Hvar. It's also the yachting capital of the dalmatians, so if you're into yachting this should be a big destination
Places to Stay
A number of people have turned houses into a mixture of a bed and breakfast/hostel type living place. Green Lizard was clean, convenient and the owner was cool.

Nightlife
Don't remember the name of the place, but it's on the right side of the harbor and they sell 6L towers of beer. The owner was an older woman and she was fantastic. We stayed on the island for 3 nights and went to the same bar each night. By the third night we didn't pay for anything and she was giving us tons of free shots/beer. When she found out we were leaving she gave us hugs.
