Places to go- Cuzco, Peru
Getting in and Out
-Buses are the most common and cheapest form of travel to and from Cuzco check the Bus Schedule/Ticketing for more information. (make sure you get one with a bathroom or that you won't need to use the bathroom for long periods of time)
-trains run from Cuzco to Macchu Picchu if you aren't in the mood for the Inca Trail Check Train Schedule/Ticketing for more information
Getting Around
If you are near the city center, walking is your best bet. Everything is close enough to walk. The main square is plaza de armas. From there you can get to almost anywhere you want to go.
If you do want to use a taxi, it shouldn't cost more than 3-5 soles for a ride anywhere in town. Unless gas prices have really gone up. Make sure you agree on a price with the driver before you get in the taxi.
There are also combis which are bascially mini-vans playing the role of buses. They are cheap (less than 1 sole), but a bit difficult/crowded to use if you are only going to be in town a short time. If you do choose to use combi's "baja" means I want down, and ask a local if you have any questions. (pretty fund adventure if you're into that sort of thing.)
Things to do
- Inca Trail/Macchu Picchu
- Drink Coca tea (mate de coca) and/or chew coca
- Try Inca cola. could be one of the sweetest soft drinks out there.
- Try a Pisco sour. the national mixed drink of peru.
- if you have the guts, try the spit Fermented Corn Beer and the Cuy (guinea pig)
- white water rafting
- there's a stone in a wall in cuzco that has 12 perfect sides, but to be honest, its not that impressive.
- There lots of museums and if you're into that thing get a Boleto turistico which can be purchased at Oficina Ejecutiva del Comité (OFEC), Av Sol 103. There are a couple of different ticket prices
1) A full ticket- ten days and for all sites 70 soles;
2) A student ticket, (ISIC sudentcard required), 35 Soles
3) A partial ticket only valid for a day and only works for some of the sites 40 Soles.

Places to Eat
Jack's Cafe by the South American Explorers clubhouse at Choquechaca 188 has some amazing food. Its a bit pricey compared to other places in cuzco, but the food is amazing. The prices aren't bad, but you'll be paying almost what you would be back home for the same type of food, but it is glorious
Night Life
There are tons of bars around town. The main square (plaza de armas) is host to a few. If you get ridiculously drunk, make sure you have a semi sober buddy to take care of you.
- Mama africa was a cool place with live music.
General Advice/Warnings
be careful at night. Try to stay in popular areas or use good judgemnt. There have been a few travelers robbed when walking through poorly lit areas of town.
