Lisbon has two train stations, which have overnight trains to Madrid. Also, you can travel on Easyjet airlines (around Europe) pretty cheaply.

Check out the Belem Monastery and Tower. In the area, just down the street from the monastery there is this famous pastry shop. Ask for the famous pastry there. It is less than a Euro and it is delicious. Something like only 4 people in the world know the recipe and there are a lot of imitations but it's worth checking out!
