Getting Around USA

Air
Getting from one side of America to the other side is lengthy if done overland, but by air its fairly quick, but expensive

Cheaper Airlines
SouthWest Airlines is one of the cheapest, but has limited destinations
Jet Blue is also a cheap airlines, but also has limited destinations

Bus
Unfortunately, the US is pretty large and getting around by bus can be tedius. On the good side, its cheaper.
The main bus carrier in the US is Greyhound . Check website for details on routes and schedule.

Train
The train system in the US is limited on its number of destinations, but it doesn't hurt to check it out. The main carrier in the US is Amtrak Check the website for details on routes, schedule and pricing.

Car
By far the most convient, but unfortunately the most expensive. Renting a car is pricy in the US and gas prices aren't helping. However if you are still interested there are a number of rental car services, most of which have locations at most airports. To be honest, I'm not sure which one tends to be the cheapest or have the best service. Hopefully, someone with more experience in car rentals will add their input.

Renting a car is normally the least expensive at airports (depending on the city and state.) Normally car rentals for international travelers are not allowed if the renter is not 25 years old. This can vary in different states, but that is basically the standard age.
